Breathe like a Samurai Feel Like a Warrior

Nov 03, 2022

In ancient Japan, it was common for soldiers breathing to be tested. The story goes that a feather would be placed under the nose of each Saumair during inspection, if the Samurai's breathing moved the feather then they were considered as being unfit.

Dr. Buteyko a Ukrainian Scientist observed that the sicker patients became the harder and faster their breathing was. Dr. Buteyko created the Butyeko Method

What is the Buteyko Method?

The Buteyko Method or "Buteyko Breathing Technique" is a form of complementary and alternative physical therapy that proposes the use of slow breathing exercises primarily as a treatment for asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) & hyperventilation.

Why Should We Breathe Slowly?

Good Breathing is now widely considered light, slow and deep.

Benefit #1

The slower we breathe the more time our body has to take oxygen from the air in our lungs which means we are breathing more efficiently.

 Benefit #2

Your nose is your first line of defense for your respiratory system, it cleans, cools, and even pressurizes the air, remember the mouth is for kissing and eating!

 Benefit #3

Breathing light, slow and deep, will help your body adjust to higher levels of co2 which means you will feel less out of breath and sleep better.
